The theme for the 12th edition of the World Radio Day, to be celebrated on February 13th 2023, is ”Radio and Peace”.
SAQ is therefore scheduled to be on air, to send out a peace message to the whole world, using the unique 200kW Alexanderson alternator, from 1924, on 17.2 kHz CW

15:30 CET (14:30 UTC): Startup and tuning of the Alexanderson Alternator SAQ.
16:00 CET (15:00 UTC): Transmission of a peace message from SAQ

Amateur Radio Station SK6SAQ
NEW! For World Radio Day communication, SK6SAQ has picked a set of unique frequencies, with a ”connection” to SAQ:s transmission frequency 17.2 kHz.
The Amateur Radio Station with the call “SK6SAQ” will be QRV between 10:00 CET (09:00 UTC) and 17:00 CET ( 16:00 UTC) on the following frequencies:
– 3 517.2 kHz CW
– 7 017.2 kHz CW
– 14 017.2 KHz CW
– 3 755 kHz SSB
– 7 140 kHz SSB

Visitors are most welcome to World Heritage Grimeton Radio Station on World Radio Day. The radio station is open all day using ”self check in”. At 15:00 CET (14:00) UTC, the doors will open for all visitors, with free admission to the transmission
